About us

Energy for Others® is a nonprofit public-benefit corporation that was formed in July 2002 to urge employees of U.S.-based Sempra Energy subsidiaries and affiliates whose payroll is processed through the ADP/MyInfo system to support community-based charitable groups.

Its predecessor programs included two very successful, individual company efforts:  the SDG&E Contrib Club and SoCalGas’ G.A.S. Works program.

As part of the Energy for Others employee-giving program, employees can either designate their contributions to the groups of their choice and/or they can donate directly to their local Energy for Others' fund. One hundred percent of all contributions made by employees are directed to their charities of choice.

A board of directors provides governance. It's made up of people from a number of Sempra Energy companies. Councils made up of local advisers have also been set up to review and provide input on requests submitted for funding.

Since it began, more than $500,000 has been raised and donated to charities in communities where employees work and live.
